The Leibniz Computing Center (LRZ) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences continues to invest in integrated high performance & quantum computing. QMware's technology adds an on-premise private quantum cloud solution to the existing portfolio of simulators for users.
Munich, September 27, 2022 - QMware today announced the physical integration of its "Private Quantum Cloud" at the Leibniz Supercomputing Center (LRZ). The LRZ aims to continuously expand the computing power of its existing and future supercomputers using a wide variety of quantum computing hardware and software and is conducting intensive technology exploration to this end. In cooperation with QMware, the novel technology of virtualizing quantum processors will be evaluated together with users. In such an environment, algorithms can be developed today that use classical high-performance computers and future quantum computers.
The collaboration with QMware is a further step for the rapid and continuous expansion of the LRZ infrastructure for hybrid quantum computing and supports the consistent further development of the high-performance infrastructure for science. "We want to test application examples in practice as quickly as possible and develop corresponding software. Together with users, we want to test how they can already do this today with the QMware Cloud," says Prof. Dr. Dieter Kranzlmüller, Head of the LRZ.
As a first step, QMware and the LRZ are offering interested researchers a beginner's workshop to familiarize them with the cloud solution. On September 27 and 28, more than 20 participants will get to know the development environment of the hybrid quantum computing cloud QMware. Represented are top researchers of the Bavarian quantum community. Under the guidance of the QMware team, they are taught the tools to develop and operate their own applications for their specific field of knowledge in teaching and research together with the LRZ. Examples of applications can be found in the areas of optimization, simulation or machine learning. The formulated algorithms can access both classical and quantum-based computing power. After this initial user training, the group of experts will stress test the system with their own applications.

The research team had investigated two case studies in the areas of machine learning and optimization in automotive production.
